Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated
Glades Alumnae Chapter
Chapter History
Twenty-one young, energetic women representing the epitome of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, and Social Action sought to provide services to the Western Palm Beach County area. They thus chartered the Glades Alumnae Chapter on January 27, 1977. At present, its membership of almost 100 remains dedicated to keeping the connection to the mission and vision of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Founders by contributing countless hours of public service implemented through our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust in the service areas of Belle Glade, Clewiston, Loxahatchee, Pahokee, Royal Palm Beach, South Bay, and Wellington.
Inherent in the public service philosophy and founding principles of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated are the efforts to renew the human spirit and tap the resources of the mind. Such actions have taken Glades Alumnae Chapter into the innermost recesses of issues encountered by the disadvantaged, the uneducated, and the neglected. For nearly 43 years, Glades Alumnae Chapter has provided the community with access to physical and mental health education through the annual health fair, ensured students in our service area have funding for higher education through the scholarship program, provided our neighbors in Haiti with homes and critical supplies through our International Awareness efforts, and registered hundreds of citizens to vote in local, state, and national elections.
